Preparation:
Mix 100ml of lukewarm water with the sugar until the sugar has dissolved. Then mix in the yeast and let it rest for 15 minutes before adding the other ingredients, apart from the baking soda and 500ml water. The dough makes 5 rolls. Mix 500ml of hot water and baking soda into a mixture and place in a tall vessel then soak the individual rolls for about 1 minute in the lye. Finally cut crosswise, place on a baking sheet and bake sprinkled with the salt at 175 degrees for 30 minutes.
